Dr. Farwell and his scientific innovations and discoveries have been featured on CBS Evening News, ABC World News, CNN, CBS 60 Minutes, Good Morning America, Discovery Channel, PBS, BBC, The New York Times, The Washington Post, US News and World Report, and in news media throughout the world.

He is a Harvard graduate and former Harvard research associate.  He earned his PhD in biological psychology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in 1992.

Dr. Farwell is the inventor of the technique of Brain Fingerprinting, a scientific method to bring out the truth and identify perpetrators of crimes and clear the innocent with extremely high accuracy through measuring electrical brain signals.  Brain Fingerprinting has been used successfully to help to bring a serial killer to justice and to exonerate a man falsely convicted and imprisoned for 23 years for murder.  Brain Fingerprinting has been tested in the laboratory and in over 100 real-life cases, and has been accurate in every case so far.  It has been published in the leading scientific journals, patented, and ruled admissible in court. Dr. Farwell's Brain Fingerprinting technique achieved over 99% accuracy in research at the FBI, the CIA, and the US Navy.   

Dr. Farwell also conducted pioneering research in the field of brain-computer interfaces.  He invented the first EEG-based brain-computer interface, a device that allows an individual to communicate directly from the brain to a computer and speech synthesizer using electrical brain activity.  

Dr. Farwell has invented and developed new applications of brainwaves in several fields. He pioneered the use of brainwaves to evaluate the effectiveness of training and advertising programs scientifically and developed medical technology that may be applied for the early detection of Alzheimer’s and other cognitively degenerative diseases.

He has conducted and published pioneering research into the role of consciousness in human life and the universe.  In collaboration with his late father, the renowned physicist Dr. George Farwell, he scientifically demonstrated in the laboratory that humans can significantly affect the physical world from the macroscopic level to the level of subatomic particles through consciousness alone – without physical intervention.   His book How Consciousness Commands Matter: The New Scientific Revolution and the Evidence that Anything Is Possible explains the commanding role of consciousness in human life and the universe in terms of relativity and quantum physics, modern neuroscience, and the Farwells' own research.

In addition to his pioneering work in neuroscience, brainwaves, and consciousness, Dr. Farwell has served as clinical director of an in-patient mental institution.

Dr. Farwell is a black belt in kungfu, an accomplished swing dance performer, and a Transcendental Meditation teacher.
